Going, Going, Going until the Art WOW is Done

If you’re in Waco, and you don’t know what the Austin Ave Art Fair and the Art Walk Of Waco are, you should really look into going next year. The Art Fair is very impressive and has tons of activities in a beautiful space (this year, it was at the Hotel Herringbone, but in past years, it has been at Anthem Stories). One of these activites is the Art WOW, which I have now been participating in for two years. Waco residents and visitors make stops into businesses where artists have set up booths all along Downtown Waco, which is beneficial for both the businesses and the artists!

It was beyond fulfilling to see so many families, solo ladies, and older couples some by to tell stories of what the art reminded them of, and to add their bit of meaning to what they saw in my work. I got to explain some processes to some kids, sell some pieces and prints, and received some requests for commissions! Being in 25N Coworking with two other artists was perfect, because we really filled the space. It was so refreshing to see how different our work is, and it was an honor to be next to such excellent artists.

Do you see those tiny mini paintings next to the large one? I painted those as “shards”, as if they were broken off the larger piece, and one sold <3

Lastly, there are some additions. You may have seen my reveal of the smaller, green path painting with the ruins, called “First Light 3”. You can read more about it here; I’m so thankful it’s been such a hit both on social media and as people stopped by at Art WOW. Also, this was the debut of the ArtVend! It was great to have something people can participate in, so they can feel comfortable approaching the booth.

Given all these additions to the booth setup and new pieces, it did feel like a marathon, getting everything varnished, framed, and packaged, but I am so glad I perservered. It was a great year, hope to see you at the next one!
